Tree service in Lynnwood, Washington

Lynnwood is suburban Snohomish County and the trees tell you so. Most of what stands here was planted rather than left standing: landscape conifers, birches, maples and flowering trees that went into the ground when the neighborhoods around Alderwood were built, and that have had thirty or forty years to get on with it since. The lots are smaller than they are in the north of our area, houses sit close together, and a tree that looked right beside a new build is now a serious piece of wood eight feet off a roofline or leaning into a fence line it shares with two neighbors. That is the work here. Mature landscape trees on lots that have run out of room for them.

The most common Lynnwood job is clearance. Branches on the roof and in the gutters, a canopy so dense the lawn under it has given up, limbs over the drive or the play area, and a fence line somebody would like back. Most of that is pruning rather than removal, and pruning is the work that pays a homeowner back, because a tree pruned properly this year is a tree you prune again in a few years rather than one you replace.

The other Lynnwood pattern is the planted ornamental that has reached the end of its run. Flowering cherries and plums, birches and the smaller maples that went into these yards decades ago are short lived trees by conifer standards, and a lot of them are now thin in the crown with deadwood through the middle. Some are worth pruning and keeping for another ten years. Some are genuinely finished, and we would rather tell you which is which than take money for pruning something that needs replacing.

Questions from Lynnwood

Can you get a big tree out of a Lynnwood back yard?

Usually, and almost never by felling it. On a lot this size the tree comes apart in pieces on ropes, each one lowered to a spot on the ground somebody has already cleared, and the material is carried or dragged to wherever the chipper can sit. What that costs you is time rather than damage, and the carry is one of the first things we look at when we walk the property.

Is the tree in the strip behind my fence mine to deal with?

That depends on where the trunk stands and who owns the ground under it, and it is worth settling before anybody books work. Plenty of the wooded bands left between Lynnwood plats belong to a homeowners association or to the city rather than to the houses either side. We will tell you what we can see at the estimate, and if a written opinion from a certified arborist would help you take it to whoever does own it, that is something we can write.
